Explore Carrick-on-Suir

Rathgormack Hiking Centre

Situated in the Comeragh Mountains in the picturesque village of Rathgormack. The community centre also encompasses a purpose built Fáilte Ireland approved hostel with beds for 22 people.

The hostel and hiking centre are the ideal locations for exploring the many attractions of north Waterford, including Crotty’s Lake, Coumshingaun Lake, The Mahon Falls, and the Nire Valley in the Comeragh Mountains.

Unique flora and fauna is to be found in this very beautiful part of the county. The community always strives to ensure our actions will have a positive impact on our community, our people and our environment.

Just off the N25 and a short drive from Dungarvan, the Comeraghs are Waterford’s Great Outdoors, stretching from the coast to Clonmel. This mountain range, with 12 distinct peaks and a high point of 792m (2,598ft), offers stunning Atlantic views and countless hiking opportunities. No boots? No problem. Explore dramatic Nire Valley, the Boolas at Rathgormack, and the spectacular 80-meter Mahon Falls near Lemybrien. From charming villages like Kilbrien and Rathcormack to the unique moorland ecosystem, the Comeraghs have it all—including a ‘magic road’ where cars roll uphill!
