The Journey of an Idea Returns – Year Two Launches with New Vision and a Growing Tourism Landscape. Carrick-on-Suir is buzzing with excitement following the official launch of The Journey of an Idea – Year Two in the Carrick Hotel on 23 October 2025. After a hugely successful first year, this Student Entrepreneurial Programme has returned with new energy and a renewed focus on empowering local students to shape the future of tourism in their hometown.
This year’s theme – The Quest for Tourism Innovation – comes at a pivotal moment. Tipperary has just been recognised by Lonely Planet as one of the Top 25 Destinations in the World to Visit in 2026, placing the county firmly on the global tourism map. This incredible accolade offers an exciting opportunity for young people to contribute to the evolving story of the region.
Students will be tasked with creating unique visitor experiences using the Quest Map as their inspiration – celebrating the attractions we already have, while imagining what new adventures might invite more people to discover Carrick-on-Suir.
Year Two adopts a project-based approach. After each monthly webinar, participants will complete a creative mini-task, from one-minute videos to short summaries and storyboards. All projects will culminate in a judged showcase next April.
The programme is led by Explore Carrick-on-Suir and delivered with expert guidance from Fáilte Ireland, Mirador Media, and internationally renowned mural artist Fintan Magee, whose breathtaking biodiversity and heritage mural on the Tirlán building is transforming the town’s skyline.
Special guest speakers, including Sheila Dooley-Walsh of Fáilte Ireland, Marc Roosli of Mirador Media, and Fintan Magee, inspired students to think differently, communicate confidently, and show pride in where they live.
Explore Carrick-on-Suir believes in giving young people a platform to lead, create, and thrive. The Journey of an Idea is not just an educational programme it is a celebration of imagination, community, and possibility.
