The Strand Theatre

The Strand Theatre was built in 1974 by local brothers Michael and Christy Butler and remained in the Butler family until 2003. That year, the Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society (formerly the Carrick-on-Suir Amateur Operatic Society) purchased the premises as their new home. Between 2005 and 2006, the Society undertook a major refurbishment and extension of the theatre, transforming it into the beautiful 360-seat venue we know today at total cost of €1.5million.

Each year, the Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society presents an annual pantomime and a Spring Production, featuring shows like Chess, Hello Dolly!, Sister Act, and the Irish Adult Amateur Premiere of Phantom of the Opera, all staged in the Dick Meany Auditorium.
